2 farmers injured during gunfight between Maoists & SOG jawans

Nuapada: In a tragic incident, two farmers were injured during a gunfight between Maoists and Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans near Kholivitar Village under Boden police limits in Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary of the district this afternoon.

According to reports, security personnel conducted a search operation in the area after getting information about the presence of the red rebels in the nearby forest. The Maoists who were hiding in the area started firing at the security persons, following which the latter retaliated.

In the meantime, two farmers identified as Bidya Chinda and Chatar Chinda, who were working at their farmland near the forest, sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces.

Both of them have been admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla. Their condition is said to be critical, said sources.
