2 elderly men critical in bear attack in Deogarh

Deogarh: In yet another case of human-animal conflict in the State, at least two elderly persons sustained critical injuries in bear attack in Rengali village under Barkote police limits in Deogarh district today.

The injured have been identified as Bhuban Nayak and Lambodhar Nayak of the same locality.

The victim duo had been to attend nature’s call in a field located near the river bank in the village early in the morning when the predator attack took place. After getting freshen-up they were having a talk when a wild bear which had sneaked into the village in search of food pounced on them.

Badly mauled by the bear Bhuban and Lambodar were rushed to Pallahara Hospital in Angul district immediately by some villagers. Their condition is stated to be critical.

Forest officials have rushed to the village post the incident and trying to drive away the bear from the forest located near the village.
