Keonjhar: At least two persons were killed after a car they were traveling in smacked into a stationary truck from the rear on Bankamaruni bridge on National Highway-20 under Sadar Police limits in the district on Saturday.
The deceased duo could not have been identified so far.
The mishap took place in the morning while the victims were on their way to Keonjhar from Bhubaneswar in a Hyundai i 10 car bearing registration number OR 02 BT 1615. Due to some reason the driver of the car failed to spot a 12-wheeler truck (Registration No. OD 09 J 3352) which had parked on the road near MSP plant and ended up ramming into it from behind.
The intensity of the collision was so high that the car got completely mangled from the front killing the victims inside it.
Sadar Police reached the spot and managed to pull out the bodies from the damaged car with the help of gas cutter.
The bodies were later sent to the Keonjhar DHH for autopsy.
