Bargarh: At least two persons were killed and five others sustained injuries in a head-on collision between a bike and a SUV at Samardhara village under Bhatli police limits on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sukadev Kharsel and Kamal Kumar Sa. Both the deceased are residents of Smardhara village.
The mishap took in the noon, minutes after Sukadev set out in some work from his house with Kamal on the pillion seat. At Samardhara Square, driver of a Mahindra Bolero (Registration No. OD 03 A 0404) which was coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and struck the victim’s bike from front and suffered an overturn.
While Sukadev died on the spot following the crash Kamal was shifted to Bhatli CHC along with five other injured from the mangled Bolero. Kamal died later while being shifted to Burla hospital in critical condition.
The conditions of the rest of the injured who are admitted to the Bhatli CHC are stated to be stable now.
Police have lodged a case in the incident and seized the mangled vehicles reaching the spot.
