2 critical in collision between two trucks in Cuttack

Cuttack: At least two persons sustained critical injuries after a cement-laden truck smacked into a container truck on National Highway-16 near State Bank of India Tangi branch in Cuttack district on Saturday.

The mishap took place in the wee hours while the cement-laden truck owned by Trans Cargo India (TCI) company was en-route to its destination from Haripur road to deliver a consignment when the crash took place.

The driver of the cement-laden truck failed to spot a container truck which was heading to Chandikhol from Cuttack while climbing up to the highway from a service road and ended up causing a crash.

While both the trucks got badly damaged under the impact of the collision, the driver and helper of the container truck sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

Traffic flow remained disrupted on the highway for almost one hour due to the accident and could be restored only after local police reached the spot and removed the vehicles with the help of cranes.

Both the injured were later rushed to SCB Medical in Cuttack for treatment.
