Balasore: Showing no let-up in tightening the noose around the necks of illegal coal transporters in the district, police seized at least two coal-laden trucks on NH-16 near Bharat Petrol Pump under Khantapada police limits last night and arrested two persons.
The identity of the arrested driver duo could not have been ascertained so far.
As per the report, a team of Khantapada police swung into action after getting a tip-off on at least two lorry trucks which were carrying coal from Bhadrak to neighbouring Jharkhand State late in the night. After intercepting the vehicles near the petrol pump and conducting a search of those cops found one of the trucks carrying 20 tonnes of coal and the other laden with 15 tonnes.
After the truck drivers failed to produce necessary documents for coal transport, police seized their vehicles and took them into custody.
The interrogation of the arrested drivers is underway to find out the involvement of any racket in the case.
