Paradip: In success against looters on prowl in the port city, Paradip Police on Tuesday arrested at least two chain snatchers and seized a number of loot items from their possession.
The arrested accused duo has been identified as Sanatan Nayak (Sana) and Biswanath Nayak (Raja).
While police seized two gold necklaces and a bike from the possession of the held criminals, another aide of them identified as Mithun Barik gave cops a slip during the raid.
Police said, the duo was involved in a number of cases including vehicle thefts on the highways as well as chain snatching under different police stations in Jagatsinghpur district and had been jailed on a previous occasion. However they started remaining active in loot again in the port city in last couple of months after being released from jail.
Police was on a hunt of Sana and Raja after the duo snatched away the necklace of a woman at IFFCO square in Tirtol area during last Raja festival. Since then they were on police’s radar.
