Balasore: Beachgoers were left in a state of panic after a sudden fire broke out on a boat at Permit ghat in Balasore district last evening left at least two vessels gutted.
The mishap took place while cooking was underway by some of the boarders of a boat and the fire spread out of the hearth due to their negligence. It is suspected that spilling of diesel helped the fire spread further and catch another boat anchored nearby.
While the fire was doused by the fishermen and onlookers later, till then assets worth lakhs had been lost to the fire.
