1975 Emergency: Smriti Irani arrives in Bhubaneswar to observe black day

Bhubaneswar: BJP leader and Union Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani on Tuesday arrived in Bhubaneswar, capital city of Odisha, to observe black day today to mark the 43rd anniversary of 1975 Emergency.

The Minister held a press conference on Emergency at the party’s State headquarters office in Bhubaneswar.

She narrated how the Congress had murdered democracy by imposing Emergency across the country.

The saffron leader also asked the party activists to highlight how the Emergency was the darkest period of independent India.

Later on the day, Irani will take part at ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ (Contact for Support) programme at 4.30 pm. She is scheduled to return to Delhi in the evening, party sources said.

Today, BJP is observing black day across the country to mark the anniversary of the Emergency imposed i by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
