Malkangiri: Malkangiri Police seized around 190 kg of ganja near Padmagiri Chhak, five km away from the district headquarter here in Odisha on late last night. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Anand Kumar Sagar and Arbind Rajwade. Both the accused are resident of Koriya district from Chhattisgarh.
Police sources said, a team of Malkangiri Police led by SI MR Swain caught the accused persons while they were transporting the contraband Ganja in eight polythene bags by a white colour Mahindra Bolero bearing Regd. No: CG 16CH 6341.
The accused smugglers procured ganja from the district and were transporting to the neighbouring state for selling at a higher price, police said.
A case has been registered with Malkangiri Police station under NDPS Act in this connection. The arrested persons were also produced in the court today, said a senior police official.
