18 VIMSAR Students Fined Rs 54,000 For Ragging

Sambalpur: Taking a stern action against a group of students for their involvement in a ragging case, the authorities of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla of Odisha’s Sambalpur district imposed a hefty fine on them.

According to VIMSAR Dean Jayashree Dora, a total of 18 students of the institute have been imposed a collective fine of Rs 54,000.

The decision was taken following the recommendations of the anti-ragging committee of the institute, said the Dean.

It is to be noted here that the senior students had resorted to ragging six junior students of the institute on March 12 this year.

Taking a serious note of the case, the VIMSAR authorities had directed the anti-ragging committee to investigate the matter.

The anti-ragging committee after a thorough probe submitted its report over the incident based on which the fine has been imposed on the seniors.
