Mohana: At least 18 persons were injured and four others sustained critical injury after a pick-up van carrying them fell off the Kendughati Road near Liligarh area under Mohana police limits in the district on Friday.
The incident took place at around 4 AM when the pick-up van was on its way to Adaba in Gajapati district from Pallam village in Ganjam district with labourers on board for a construction work. Driver of the van, carrying a total of 25 labourers, reportedly lost control over the wheels while driving up the Kendughanti Road causing it to skid off and plunge into a gorge located near.
The injured were rushed to Mohana Community Health Centre (CHC) by some locals who rescued them from the vehicle. However, the four critical persons were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur later in the morning.
Mohana Police has reached the spot and seized the mangled pick-up van.
