Khordha: Excise officials today conducted a raid in Gurujang area in Khordha district and seized brown sugar weighing 17 grams from a peddler and arrested him.
The held accused has been identified as Chhabindra Pradhan.
Getting a tip-of on the delivery of a drug consignment which the accused possessed, the anti-narcotics officials raided his house Gurujang in the morning and seized the packet of brown sugar. He was taken into custody later.
The brown sugar which was seized from the accused’s house today will cost around 1.7 lakh, said Excise Department sources.
The held peddler has been charged under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and has been forwarded to court.
