Khordha: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal drug traders in the district, Excise Department officials seized 16 kg ganja by conducting a raid under Khordha Model Police Station area and arrested 3 peddlers on Tuesday.
The held accused have been identified as Dasarathi Nayak of Nuagan village Nayagarh district and Mohammad Ullah, Mohammed Ashiq and Mohammad Suraj of neighbouring West Bengal State.
A joint team of Excise officials and Khordha Model Police raided a house where the accused were running their business in the morning and took them into custody and seized to sacks carrying ganja.
“The seized ganja would cost around Rs 15,000. The held peddlers were sending it to the local market. They have been charged under the relevant sections of NDPS Act and forwarded to court,” said police.
