Malkangiri: Police today seized ganja weighing 1500 kilograms from a cement laden truck and arrested two persons in this connection.
Police said that the ganja was being transported to Angul from Andhra Pradesh in the cement truck. “The vehicle was asked to stop during a routine check. However, the driver and helper of the truck started running. Both of them were nabbed immediately,” said a police official.
The accused have been identified as Biswajit Bhadury (26) and Sinu Samal (23), both natives of Angul district.
Malkangiri police this year so have seized ganja weighing 19744 kilograms and have also arrested 191 accused. Police said that 60 of the accused arrested this year so far hailed from other states. “We have registered as many as 88 cases under the NDPS Act. The drive will be intensified in the district,” added the police official.
