15-Year-Old Delivers Baby Girl As Man Keeps Physical Relationship With Her On Pretext Of Marriage In Odisha

Paralakhemundi: A 15-year-old girl reportedly gave birth to a baby girl as a man kept physical relationship with her on pretext of marriage at Haripur village under Kashinagar police limits of Gajapati district. The minor girl delivered the baby at Kashinagar Community Health Centre.

According to reports, the girl left her studies when she was in class ten after falling in love with one K. Mahendra of the same village, who was earning his living by driving a tractor.

In course of time, Mahendra kept physical relationship with the girl assuring her to marry in the future. However, he fled from the village after knowing that the girl became pregnant.

Meanwhile, Kashinagar Police has started an investigation into the matter after registering a case against Mahendra under different Sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.

A special team of the Gajapati district police also has gone to all the neighbouring districts and Andhra Pradesh in search of the accused.

On the other hand, the health condition of both the new mother and child is said to be stable. They will be handed over to the district Child Welfare Committee after being discharged from the hospital, informed sources.
