Rayagada: At least 15 persons were hurt and two of them turned critical later after a van carrying them rammed into a roadside tree near Dhobagudi under Muniguda police limits the district last night.
All the victims have been identified as residents of Rasikela village of Bissam Cuttack block.
As per the report the victims were returning home after a visit to Daringbadi area in Kandhamal district when the tragedy struck. Driver of the Tata Magic vehicle lost control over the wheels of the vehicle due to some reason at around 1 AM causing it to hit a road side tree and fall into a nullah.
Muniguda Police along with fire brigade teams rushed to the spot following the mishap and rescued the victims stuck inside the van in critical conditions.
The injured were first taken to Bissam Cuttack Christian Hospital and Muniguda CHC for treatment. The critically injured were later shifted to Rayagada DHH for better treatment.
Police have seized the mangled van and started investigation into the crash.
