15 injured, 3 critical as bus hits roadside tree in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: At least 15 persons sustained injuries and three others turned critical after a passenger bus hit a roadside tree at Godipali Square under Odagaon Police Station in the district last night.

The bus namely ‘Sarala’(Registration No. OR 02 BC 8199) met with the accident at around 3 AM in the night while it was carrying passengers from Lanjigarh to state capital Bhubaneswar. It is being suspected that the driver of the bus fell asleep at wheel and lost control on the steering causing the vehicle to veer off the road and hit a nearby tree. The bus got badly mangled in the crash.

At least 15 persons who were hurt in the mishap were rushed to the local hospital and the critically injured trio including the driver and helper of the bus were later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Odagaon Police has reached the spot and started investigation into the incident after seizing the bus.
