Keonjhar: A 15-day-old baby girl of Kanjipani village in the district was branded with hot bangle by her grandmother in a bid to cure her of an ailment. She was admitted to the district headquarters hospital last night.
As per reports, the tribal baby girl was unable to take mother’s milk due to ill health in last week. The family members approached local ASHA worker in this regard who suggested them to take the infant to hospital.
Instead of taking her to the hospital, her grand-mother opted for the traditional treatment of branding the baby with hot bangles on her stomach.
However, the baby girl developed cold and fever after the incident. Yesterday, her parents rushed him to the DHH here for treatment.
The baby’s condition was stable, when the last reports came in.
