15 bogies of goods train derail in Odisha

Koraput: At least 15 bogies of a goods train derailed near Damanjodi railways station in the district this evening.

According to reports, the goods train derailed when it was returning after collecting aluminum powder from NALCO.

Train movement through Koraput-Rayagada route has been massively hit following the derailment of the train.

Rourkela-Koraput Express has been cancelled while the Hirakhand Express has been diverted, said sources.

The  Hirakhand Express will arrive Bhubaneswar, its destination by passing through Araku and Kothavalasa.

Likewise, the Samaleswari Express has been left stranded at Laxmipur Road due to the train accident, added the sources.

Meanwhile, a relief train has been sent to the spot for rescue operation.

Local administrations along with the police and railway officials have reached the site and are carrying out efforts to clear the route.
