14 more Omicron cases detected in Odisha, Tally rises 75

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported 14 more Omicron cases, informed Ajay Parida, Director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS).

The total number of Omicron cases in Odisha has risen to 75.

Reportedly, out of the 14 new Omicron positives, six of them had foreign travel history.

The detection of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been reported to the State Health Department by the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar which is conducting the genome sequencing of the positive cases of coronavirus infection.

Earlier on January 6, 24 Omicron cases were detected in the State of which 5 positives were linked to foreign travel history while 19 others were local contacts.

It is to be noted that as many as 3679 Covid-19 positive cases including 1223 from Khordha have been detected in the last 24 hours. The total cases include 384 in the 0-18 years age group. Among the 3679 positives, 2148 are quarantine cases and 1531 are local contacts. There are a total of 11663 active cases.
