14 more found positive with ‘dengue’ at SCB, Cuttack worst hit

Cuttack: Dengue menace is slowly spreading its tentacles in the state with more people testing positive for the vector-borne disease at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Saturday.

As per the medical sources, out of at least 58 viscera samples which were sent to SCB for diagnosis today, as many as 14 were tested positive with dengue virus. More shockingly, seven out of the positive samples were from Cuttack itself, it added.

The positive cases of dengue were reported from Choudwar, Harikina, Manglabag, Mahanadi Vihar, Manguli, Pradhan Pada and Niali in the Cuttack district. Rest seven positive patients were detected from Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh districts.

So far, dengue has spread to 12 districts in the state with Cuttack at the top of the list of total number of affected persons, which stands at 24. While till now two dengue patients have died at SCB Medical, 17 others are undergoing treatment at the special dengue ward.
