Rayagada: Police have arrested 14 villagers so far in connection with Utkal Alumina disturbance in which a group of people pelted stones at cops yesterday.
The incident took place after residents of Dwimundi village held a demonstration in front of the plant gate demanding their inclusion in the plant displaced family list to entitle for compensation.
While Rayagada SP Sarvana Vivek M was having a dialogue with the protestors on the issue in the presence of police force later, an altercation took place between the two sides and some people resorted to stone-pelting.
After the SP sustained injuries in the attack police resorted to lathi-charge and latter clamped Section 144 in the area.
