12th Toshali National Crafts Fair kicks off in style

Bhubaneswar: The 12th Toshali National Crafts Mela providing a massive platform to artisans started at the Janta Maidan in the city on Friday.

Inaugurated by the State Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Snehangini Chhuria, the fair witnessed a massive footfall on its first day. Visitors were seen taking glimpse of various handicraft and handloom products put for sale in around 350 stalls set up at the ground this year.

“Odisha Government is committed to the interests of artists and artisans in the State. It has completed all modalities in the direction of proving a market for around 50 handloom products identified and approved by it. Efforts are also on to provide E-market place for these products,” said Chhuria while addressing the inauguration event at the ground.

The 12th Toshali National Crafts Mela which would continue till December 27 would witness a participation of more than 400 artisans of 25 States. Expected a visit of more than 20 lakh people this year along with a business of Rs 20 Cr, the fair holds a major attraction for handicraft lovers in the city. Fashion shows and musical nights have also been put on the list by the organisers for the crowd.
