Puri: Heavy security arrangements have been made for the ‘Suna Besha’ of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on Tuesday.

As many as 125 platoons of police force will be deployed for the smooth conduct of Suna Besha, also known as Raja Besha. Besides, CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations on the Bada Danda (Grand Road). Special arrangements have also been made for  manage traffic during the event.

The ‘Suna Besha’ is scheduled to be performed from 5 PM to 6.30 PM today.

The hands and feet of the Trinity will be decorated with gold plates. Lord Jagannath will also be adorned with a chakra (disc) made of gold on the right hand while a silver conch would adorn his left hand. However, Balabhadra will be decorated with a plough made of gold on the left hand and a golden mace on his right hand.

Lakhs of devotees are expected to catch a glimpse of the gold-clad deities.

The Suna Besha is held every year on the day following Bahuda Jatra.
