12 wild animals fall sick at Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: As many as 12 wild animals have fallen sick in the Nandankanan Zoo of Bhubaneswar.

Reportedly, the animals have been sick for a long time now and were kept under treatment. However, their health condition did not improve.

The authorities have been finding ways to provide more medical attention to sick animals, especially the White Tigress Bijaya, and Lionness Bijli.

A special team from Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) has also come to Nandankanan on Wednesday to inspect the sick animals.

Recently, four vultures were injured after being shot by a hunter in Koraput’s Jeypore and were brought to Nandankanan Zoo, a male Sambar Deer, White Tigress Bijaya, and Lionness Bijli have not been eating properly. As a result, their health is deteriorating with each passing day.

A bear from Jeypore has an infection on the back of its leg due to which it was not able to walk.
