Balangir: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal drug traders in the State, Police today seized a truck carrying around 12 quintals of ganja by conducting a raid near RTO office chhak in Balangir town.
The driver of the truck was taken into custody during the raid. His identity is yet to be ascertained.
As per the report, Balangir Police was carrying out a vehicle inspection at RTO Chhak when detained a truck for search. During the search, the vehicle was found carrying a ganja consignment filled inside a number of gunny bags. While the driver was immediately taken into custody, the banned drug was seized.
During his interrogation, the driver of the seized truck has revealed that the ganja consignment was being sent from Malkangiri to Bhubaneswar, said a police official.
Further questioning of the driver is underway to elicit more information on the illegal drug trade in the district, he added.
