12 Minor Girls Rescued from Malkangiri

Malkangiri: As many as twelve minor girls were rescued from the district headquarter here with the help of the local Child Helpline on Saturday morning. They were taken by a local contractor to work in a construction project in MV 79 village of the district.

The rescued girls have been identified as residents of Salmi area under Mathili police limits in the tribal dominant district. All of them are reportedly below 16 years old.

However, the contractor managed to flee from the spot as soon as Child Helpline reached near the minor girls.

A case has been registered against the contractor in this connection. Search operation is going on to trace the accused, said the police.
