Rayagada: Life came to a grinding halt in Muniguda and Bissam Cuttack towns in the district today due to a 12-hour bandh call given by various organisations. With vehicular traffic completely disrupted because of the bandh, commuters in these two towns had a tough time since the morning.
Reports say members of Muniguda Development Council took to the streets in Muniguda this morning as part of its 12-hour bandh call demanding Notified Area Council (NAC) status for the town. The bandh supporters burnt tyres and staged a road blockade at various places in the town.
The local traders’ association observed a 12-hour bandh in the Bissam Cuttack town this morning with a similar demand. The association demanded elevation of BissamCuttack block to a sub-division.
Ample security arrangements were made by the Rayagada district administration in view of the bandh in these two places.
