12-hour Pallahara bandh by Rengali project displaced people hits life

Angul: Normal life came to a standstill in Pallahara following a 12-hour bandh call given by Pallahara Nagarika Manch and Rengali river project displaced families’ association this morning.

The bandh which started at 6 am witnessed deserted streets with closed shops and other business establishments posing a tough time for denizens.

Plying of both government and private buses was completely disrupted as the band observers  blocked roads at different places and resorted to picketing.

Both the associations are demanding immediate disbursal of compensation to the families displaced by the Rengali river bridge project. They are also demanding immediate filling up of doctor posts lying vacant in Pallahara and Khamar hospitals.
