Titlagarh: Normal life was thrown out of gear completely in Titlagarh today following a 12-hour bandh observation by Titlagarh Zilla Kriyanusthan Committee in demand of district status for the sub-division.
Shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed due to the picketing of the bandh supporter starting from the morning today at around 6 AM. Commuters faced a tough time due to the bandh also as vehicles remained off the road due to blockades staged at different key points.
“Titlagarh which makes a vast area needs to be upgraded as a district immediately. This is a long pending and legitimate demand of the locals and as an elected representative of the area I also support it. Government should start modalities to declare Titlagarh as a district without further delay,” said Tukuni Sahu, local MLA.
The members of the committee has also threatened to boycott the upcoming Lokakala Mahotsav to be held in the block in government fails to fulfill their demand immediately.
