12-hour bandh by OSRTC employees cripples life in Bhanjanagar

Bhanjanagar: Normal life came to a standstill in Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district today following a 12-hour call given by the employees of Odisha State Road and Transport Corporation (OSRTC) demanding for clearance of the pending salaries for last seven months.

Agitating employees who also demanded for the withdrawal of a decision for relocation of OSRTC office was supported the by the Bhanjanagar Joint Action Committee.

Vehicular movement was badly hit by the protests as bandh supporters staged road blockade at different places and resorted to picketing. All government and private offices in the area was also shut in view of the bandh starting from morning 6 am.

While shops and business establishments also remained closed across Bhanjanagar, residents faced tough time for their daily needs.

Bhanjanagar Police made ample security arrangements to maintain law and order situation.
