In a shocking development, 12 kids fled the Ruchika Shelter Home in Bhubaneswar by breaking open the bathroom skylight on Monday night. One of them was caught at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station, but 11 others are yet to be traced.
The incident came to light only this morning although it occurred three days ago. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has sought a detailed report on this matter.
The CWC members are trying to ascertain the circumstances under which the kids fled the shelter home. The child, who was caught, is being counselled. Further information from him can be elicited, which could help to trace the kids on the run.
As per the information received so far, a Bangladeshi kid, who had fled from a Jatni-based shelter home few days back and shifted to Ruchika Shelter Home, is said to be the mastermind behind the plan to flee. He is also among the 11 children that are at large.
