11 houses gutted, 1 critically burnt in separate fire mishaps in Odisha

Kendrapara/Bhadrak: At least 11 houses were gutted and one person sustained critical burn injuries in separate fire incidents in Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts last night. Three cattle were also hurt in the mishaps.

In the first incident, sparks erupted in one Baishnab Behera’s house late in the night following a LPG cylinder leak and spread to a nearby cattle shed. Baishnab, who tried to save the cattle and launched firefighting efforts on his own sustained burn injuries along with 3 cows.

The flame was brought under control by Mahakalpada fire brigade teams which rushed to the spot later.

The family has lost all its belongings into the fire and sought financial assistance from the administration.

In the second incident in the same night, at least five houses of two families were gutted in Rajarajeswarpally village under Chadadia panchayat in Chandbali after fire broke out in a house.

The victim families, identified as one Prabin Mandal and his brother lost assets worth lakhs including furniture, electronic goods, paddy crop and other valuable items in the fire.

The cause of the fire  is yet to be ascertained.
