108 ambulance carrying expectant mother hits road divider, 3 injured

Nabarangpur: An expectant mother along with an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker sustained critical injury after a 108 ambulance carrying them climbed a median divider after hitting it on a road near Goudaguda village in the district last night.

The incident took place at around 2 am last night while the 108 was on its way to Umerkote Hospital carrying one Laxmi Jani of Mundapadar village who was reporting labour pain. However, it is suspected that the driver dozed at the wheels and ended up smacking into a road divider and damaging the v ehcle.

The expectant mother, an ASHA worker and the driver of the ambulance sustained injuries in the crash and were rushed to Umerkote Hospital by police.

The expectant mother and the ASHA worker has been shifted to the Nabarangpur DHH due to critical condition of late.
