Gajapati: The flying squad of Excise and Police department in Gajapati district of Odisha has seized a huge haul of country liquor today.
The villages of Adasing, Parisal, Lanjipadar, Singhipur were raided. During the raid, 1,020 liters of local liquor, 15,000 liters of liquor, and more than 20 local liquor manufacturing units were destroyed.
In the Nikanchan forest, a group of locals saw a local liquor unit running out of a spring water stream.
A strange scene was found in the village of Singhpur, where liquor was being fermented openly in the backyards of peoples houses. The molasses were filled in drains, sewers, abandoned places, lands and ponds.
Though the team had made a climb of almost 30 kms to reach these villages no one could be arrested in this connection. Open sale and manufacture of country liquor and in such huge amounts has shocked the excise department.
