Bhubaneswar: Ten students are returning from Voilence-hit Manipur on Sunday. The students who were studying at Imphal’s Central Agricultural University are returning to Bhubaneswar today.

The Odisha government had written to provide security to the students to reach the airport. According to the sources, they boarded an IndiGo flight from Imphal’s airport at 12:15 last night.

Numerous students from various states were confined to educational institutions without access to the internet or food. As a result, they asked the government to save them. Citing examples of other states which had guarantee well-being of their students who were accompanied to the airport by armed forces.

Even as tension prevails in several Manipur districts and the Army and central para-military forces continued their vigil in the strife-torn areas, the administration in the most volatile Churachandpur district relaxed the curfew on Sunday for three hours from 10 a.m.

Over 23,000 civilians have been rescued till now and were moved to their own Army operating bases and military Garrisons, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh said the curfew, imposed after the violence broke out, would be partially eased after assessing the law-and-order situation.

A defence spokesperson reportedly said the Army has significantly enhanced aerial surveillance through unmanned aerial vehicles and redeployment of helicopters.
