10 Quintals of ganja seized in Bhubaneswar, 1 arrested

Bhubaneswar: Huge quantity of ganja has been seized by the Special Task Force (STF) team on NH-16 near Tamando Crossing on Saturday and one dealer has been arrested in this connection.

The arrested drug dealer has been identified as Rajesh Singh (28) son of Kamta Singh under Haradian in  Jagadishpur district, Arra, Bhojpur (Bihar).

Acting on a tip-off against illegal transportation of Narcotic Drugs to Jharkhand/Bihar, a raid was conducted by a team of STF near Tamando Crossing in Bhubaneswar and intercepted one Hywas truck loaded with contraband ganja.

During search contraband ganja weighing 1010 kg (more than 10 Quintals) was found concealed in the secret chamber of the Hywa.

The vehicle along with the contraband ganja was seized from his possession. The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of such contraband materials, for which the accused person was arrested and will be forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Spl. Judge, Bhubaneswar.

A case has been filed in this connection under section 20 (b)(ii)(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 was registered.

Special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 52 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram Cocaine and more than 103 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, Opium 750 gram and arrested more than 146 drug dealers/peddlers.
