Bhadrak: Forest officials last night seized about 10 kg of venison and arrested a suspected poacher from Kalinali river banks under Dhamra forest area in the district last night.
The held poacher has been identified as Surajit Khanda of Chanra Kohla village under Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district.
“Forest Department had a tip-off on the poachers’ movement in Kalinali river area since long. After setting up a vigil in the area for last couple of days we nabbed the accused last night at around 10 PM,” said Amlan Nayak, DFO, Bhadrak.
“A bag carrying around 10 kg of spotted deer meat was seized from the possession of the accused and was seized. The venison will be sent to the State Forensic Laboratory for examination soon,” he added.
The accused poacher has been forwarded to court.
