Balasore: Launching a crackdown on illegal ganja trade in the district, police on Thursday arrested at least two persons seized 10 gram brown sugar from their possession.
The held peddler duo has been identified as Deepak Mohapatra of Old Town area of capital city Bhubaneswar and Dhiren Mohapatra of Sakhigopal area of Puri district.
Jaleshwar Police got a tip-off on the brown sugar consignment this morning and a team of it conducted a raid on an auto in which the accused duo was preparing to move to Rupsa. After conducting a search the cops found a packet carrying 10 gram of brown sugar which costs around 1.5 lakh and seized them. Later the accused duo was taken into custody.
Police said, the arrested peddlers had a plan to board Bangiriposhi-Bhubaneswar Express from Rupsa Railway Station to reach the state capital.
Further investigation in connection with the case is underway.
