Sambalpur: Police have launched a special drive against habitual offenders ahead of Durga Puja and have arrested 10 noted criminals.
Police have also seized seven firearms and other sharp-edged weapons from the accused.
Police said that the criminals were apprehended while they were planning to commit dacoity in Ainthapali, Dhanupali and Khetrajpur localities of the city.
The accused have been identified as Tinku Ganda, Nishant Kumar Singh, Nikhil Munda, Mahadev Munda, Shiba Pradhan, Mohammad Juman, Md Chand, Ranjan Patra, Md Samir and Md Kallo.
“ The drive will be intensified in coming days and habitual offenders will also be booked under section 110 of CrPC to maintain peace in the area during the festive season,” said a police official.
