10 child labourers from Bihar, Telengana rescued in Cuttack

Cuttack: Tightening the noose around the business establishments employing child labourers in the district, police raided a number of those located in Manguli area yesterday and rescued at least 10 children.

As per the report, Tangi Police Station IIC Bimal Kumar Barik formed a special squad and conducted raids on dhabas (roadside eateries), restaurants, and some other business establishments following tip-off and rescued the children.

Informing on the raid, Tangi Police said the children, identified as residents of Bihar and Telengana, had been engaged on work with a promise of good salary by the accused dhaba owners.

After rescue the victims have been handed over to Child Welfare Committee (CWC) by the police and kept at Basundhara orphanage located in the city. They would be handed over to their family members soon after their arrival in Odisha, informed police.
