Puri: At least one youth was killed and several others sustained injuries after an electric pole laden tractor overturn in Banapur under Sakhigopal police limits in Puri last afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Babuli Baral (35), son of Pabana Baral of Sukala Badapada village.
As per the report, at least 15 youths of Badapada were transporting a consignment of 16 electric poles from Alaguma to their village for the restoration of power supply. While one Litu Nayak was driving the tractor the other youths had overloaded it by sitting on the trailer causing him to lost control over the wheels near Banapur.
As the vehicle overturned, Babuli died on the spot by getting trapped under the poles. Litu sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital with the rest who sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Police have seized the tractor by reaching the spot and sending the body for autopsy.
