Cuttack: At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injury after a speeding car hit a bike head-on Cuttack-Chandbali road under Mahanga today.
The deceased has been identified as Nimain Charan Sahu, a ‘Dahi Bara’ vendor by profession. The injured is Banambar Sahu.
Niamain, a resident of Joranda village of Athagarh area was en-route to an unknown location riding his bike along with Banambar in the pillion seat when the mishap took place. In front of Chanakya dhaba at Nadol Gada the driver of the speeding car which was coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and drove extremely right on the road to hit Niamain’s bike from the front.
While, Nimain was killed on the spot following the accident Banambar was rushed to Salipur Hospital by some locals in critical condition.
Police rushed to the spot and seized both the vehicle to send the body for autopsy.
An investigation is underway in connection with the crash and police are trying to trace the driver of the car, who managed to escape from the spot after the accident.
