Rayagada: At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injury after a mini truck hit them on a flyover near Bhujabal area under Chandili in Rayagada district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Chaitan Guabansh (40), a resident of Bhujabal area and an employee of JK Paper Mill. The injured is Bira Singh, a local liquor shop staff.
As per the report, Chaitan was en-route to the paper mill at around 5 am this morning when the mishap took place. Driver of the speeding vehicle which was heading to Rayagada lost control over the wheels and hit Bira Singh who was on a morning walk on the same route. Later, the vehicle mowed down Chitan to kill him on the spot.
Some bystanders rushed Bira in a critical condition to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) following the mishap and called up police immediately.
Police have seized the body of late and are trying to trace the 407 van involved in the crash.
