Dhenkanal: At least one person was killed and four others sustained critical injuries after a road grader vehicle hit at least two vehicle on National Highway-55 near Baladiabandha in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bharat Behera of Dalak village under Nadiali panchayat.
The mishap took place while Bharat along with two others was en-route to Dhenkanal town riding his TVS Scooty this morning. The driver of a speeding road grader vehicle which was moving in the same direction drove extremely left on the road and hit the Scooty near an Omfed parlour on the NH.
While Bharat dies on the spot due to the injury caused by the accident, the rest two turned critical.
Later, in a bid to escape from the spot following the crash the grader driver ended up hitting another bike which was moving ahead and left two more hurt.
All injured were immediately rushed to Balasore DHH and then shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack for better treatment by some locals.
Police rushed to the spot later and detained the accused driver after seizing all the vehicles.
