1 killed, 3 others critical as auto hits stationary truck in Odisha’s Kendrapara

Kendrapara: At least one person was killed and three others sustained critical injuries after an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in hit a stationary truck near Duhuria Chhak on NH-53 in Kendrapara today.

The deceased has been identified as Prafulla Rout of Kumbharapada village under Mahakalpada police limits.

As per the report, Prafulla along with two other passengers were heading to Kendrapara from Chandikhol this morning in an auto-rickshaw in some work when the mishap took place. The driver of the auto-rickshaw failed to spot a stationary iron-laden truck parked on the Cuttack-Chandbali road and ended up dashing against it.

Prafulla, who was sitting in the front seat of the auto-rickshaw sustained grievous injury on his stomach in the crash and died of profuse bleeding on the spot.

The driver of the mangled vehicle along with rest two passengers was rushed to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition by some locals.

Police have reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy after seizing the mangled auto-rickshaw.
