Jharsuguda: One person was killed and three others sustained critical injury after a trailer truck dashed against a TATA Ace vehicle at Badimal Square on NH-49 under Rengali Police limits on Friday.
While the deceased could not have been identified so far, he is believed to be a resident of Badimal area.
The crash took place in the morning while three persons boarding the TATA Ace vehicle were heading to Raipur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh State. Driver of the speeding trailer truck failed to detect the vehicle and struck in from the front. Both the vehicles turned turtle on the spot and got badly mangled.
Rengali Police rescued three of the injured from the mangled TATA Ace reaching the spot and rushed them to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). They also sent the body of the deceased for postmortem after seizing both the vehicles.
