1 killed, 2 critical as bike hits pedestrian in Cuttack

Cuttack: In a tragic road mishap, at least one person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a bike hit a pedestrian near Kendupalli under Narasinghpur police limits last night.

The deceased has been identified as Golekh Sahu (42) of Sagar village.

As per the report, Golekh was on his way to hand over marriage ‘bhara’ (cartons of sweets) to the houses of a newly wed girl in his village when the mishap took place. At around 11 am, he lost control over the wheels of his vehicle and ended up hitting a pedestrian at Kendupalli chhak.

The impact of the collision was so serious that Golekh died on the spot and another person identified as Mukesh Sahu (25) who was riding pillion with him was badly hurt after falling off the bike. The victim pedestrian was also turned critical in the crash.

Police reached the spot and rushed the critically injured duo to Narasinghpur CHC. Later, the victim pedestrian identified as Benu Pradhan (22) was shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack due to deteriorating condition.

Police have sent the body for autopsy and an investigation is underway in the case.
