Cuttack: At least one youth was killed and another sustained critical injury after the bike they were traveling on was run over by a speeding Hyva truck on Cuttack-Bhubaneswar NH-16 on Friday.
The mishap took place at around 5 AM in the morning while the victim duo was heading to Cuttack from Bhubaneswar. While crossing the Phulnakhara flyover driver of a speeding truck which was coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting and mowing down the bike from the front.
While, one of the victim died on the spot being badly crushed under the wheels of the Hyva the other was rushed by Cuttack Sadar Police to SCB Medical in critical condition.
Police have detained the accused driver with his vehicle after sending the deceased for autopsy.
